Meet the Founder
I understand how frustrating it can be. You’ve worked so hard to pass the OBA pathway, finally achieved registration as a nurse in Australia, and yet there is still no guarantee of a job or visa sponsorship. The uncertainty of whether you can stay and continue building the dream you’ve fought for can feel overwhelming.
I’ve read countless comments from international nurses on social media, sharing their struggles—from confusion about where to start with AHPRA registration and applications, to the challenges of securing their first job or visa sponsorship once registered. That’s exactly why I founded Nurse Transition Australia (NTA)
I’m Marylen Alexander, Founder & CEO, and as a Registered Nurse who has worked in both hospital and aged care sectors, I know firsthand the challenges nurses face — both professionally and personally — when trying to build a future in Australia. I’ve walked in your shoes, and I understand the sacrifices, the doubts, and the resilience it takes to keep moving.
At the same time, having worked as an employee in different healthcare organisations, I’ve also seen the other side: how difficult it is for employers to cover staff shortages, the stress of filling rosters, and the high costs organisations face when they need to hire repeatedly just to find the right candidate.
As a nurse who has faced the journey and as someone who understands the pressures on employers — is what inspired me to build Nurse Transition Australia as a true bridge between nurses and healthcare providers.
