General Information
OBA Pathway
The Outcome-Based Assessment (OBA) Pathway is the process set by AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) for internationally qualified nurses who want to become registered nurses in Australia. It’s designed to make sure overseas-trained nurses meet the same standards as local graduates and are fully prepared for safe practice.
Working in Regional Area
Working in regional Australia offers more than just a job—it’s a pathway to career growth and migration opportunities. Nurses and healthcare professionals benefit from faster visa processing, priority pathways to permanent residency, and additional points under the Skilled Migration Program. Alongside this, you’ll enjoy financial incentives, broader clinical experience, lower cost of living, and the chance to make a real difference in communities that truly value your care.
Rates and Penalties
Working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Australia offers not only a rewarding career but also highly competitive wages, supported by structured workplace agreements and industry standards. Beyond the base salary, nurses receive penalty rates for shifts outside of standard hours—such as evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays. These penalty rates can significantly increase overall earnings, recognising the demanding nature of nursing and the sacrifices involved in working unsociable hours. In addition, many employers offer overtime pay, allowances, and access to salary packaging options, which can further boost take-home pay. Together, these benefits ensure that nurses are fairly compensated for their skills, dedication, and the vital role they play in the healthcare system.

Australia: A Truly Multicultural Nation
Multiculturalism in Australia is more than diversity—it’s a way of life that unites people through respect, fairness, and opportunity. For international nurses and their families, it offers a welcoming community, cultural understanding, and new opportunities to grow. Employers also gain globally experienced, adaptable, and empathetic staff who enrich healthcare. Australia’s story is built on migration, and by joining the workforce, you also become part of a diverse community where your culture is valued and your contribution matters.
